Dravidian's are one the oldest people lived and living in the southern part of India. According to gene map, their ancestors should have traveled from Africa around 50,000 years ago. Current population is a combination of older Dravidian's and later migrated (Aryans). I see the Dravidian's as race with Dark skin and Aryans with Fairer skin. Aryans should have migrated much later from North. There also a possibility that the slightly fairer skin could have evolved within Dravidian race. I consider myself a mix and not sure how many percent with Dravidian gene and Aryan gene.
Among the people(South Indian) i know, i consider E.V. Ramasamy(Periyar) and Subramanya Bharathi as well fit for the title of "Dravidar Darwin".
Subramanya Bharathi:
Needless to highlight again the abilities of this highly praised poet. He was not just a poet, he was one the greatest visionary of all. On his words..." Food, for all living human beings" (He did not differentiate South, North, Indians, Non-Indians. He just said for all human beings). He went a step further
" All birds and bees are our race" ( He did not stop at humans, he went further to add all living creatures).
And many more he wrote, which is beyond boundaries & limits. That's why i consider him to be one of the best fit for "Dravidar Darwin"
E.V. Ramasamy(Periyar):
Another best fit for this title is "Periyar". He had his voyage similar to Darwin, travelling all over India. Experiencing different people and culture. He was a rationalist with a clear vision. His senses very sharp as Darwin. I wonder if he had the opportunity to travel like Darwin in Beagle, he would have come to the similar conclusion as Darwin. But i suppose he had a better job to do in South India fighting for the masses. Alas, after all his fights and work, i am very surprised at the current state of South Indian Philosophy and way of life. Administration and politics wise, i am not so much concerned since it is just a representation of the masses!.
Hope i see a revival of his vision and the masses emerge from the dark ages!
